the baby crested that was shedding a lot was dead this morning when i went to mist him. I guess, ultimately, something was wrong and this baby was just unable to thrive. Thank you for all the help and advice.

im sorry about your loss... ive never heard of a crested shedding like that, and couldnt find any info that could have helped you.. everyone is upset with a loss, no matter the condition of the animal, age, anything. its the reason we own them. we love them, theyre a part of our family, even if you intend to sell them, its your time, your work into the little guy. good luck with your other babies, and lets hope this doesnt happen again. best of luck

Sorry for your loss... As I said, weekly sheddings precede death in other gecko species, I just wish someone would find out why!

I'm sorry you lost the little one, sounded like you did all you could do... I guess in humans that would just be what we label, "failure to thrive." My heart goes out to you.

ReaL sorry you lost your baby, I totally understand, and most of us here do as far as how it upsets you. Never feels good, no matter how long you have been working with lizards.

Hope ya feel better soon.

Was the baby near other reptiles, snakes, in the house? Just wondering if there may have been a chance he had mites? I know with other lizards they continue to shed, even if it's every few days , to try and rid themselves of the parasite. Natures way of helping.

unfortunately he didn't have mites. i'd have really liked to get a necropsy done, but given his tiny size and the cost of exotic necropsies it wasn't really an option. ty for ur sympathies, it's nice to know that there are ppl out there who understand.
