Invasion of the Chucks..

RioBravoReptiles Sep 10, 2008 01:32 PM

.. not that dangerous looking..
.
These little guys began showing up in the last week or so.. but it's been very overcast and rainy.. today was the first time I'd seen them cleaned-up and exploring. (hopefully we won't get IKE!).
.

.
Most are not used to me yet and scramble into every litttle crack as soon as they see the camera lens.. this is a likely hide-out.
.

.
.. fill that in with a flash..
.

.
Cute little buggers!
.
Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Most Chuckwallas live on some form of granite.. but I have to admit I have no idea what is a 'granite'.. I guess I stopped selling these at the right time.. Chuckwalla MORPHs!.. go figure!

I love the picture too...Great Black and White!

chucks...redbacks?

Gus, no one is actually working on chuck "morphs" as far as I know. The granite chucks are a naturally occuring color variety. I think they have a scientific name, but I can't recall it at the moment. They are at least known to be from a specific locale in Cal. You have one! I have seen it in your pics. Its the one that is mostly white with black spots and some peach. Here is my boy. He is dull looking in these pics because he was about to shed.

Or are you just poking fun?

Great photos. The picture with the chuck pair under the rock is very cute.
