Can you identify my frog

I was given this frog but have no idea what kind or how old he is except that he is a tree frog. What do you think? the inner of his leg is colored red.

it's actually not a treefrog, it may live in the trees, but according to it's latin classification it's a "running frog."
a red legged running frog.

where did you come across this guy? they are pretty uncommon, and yours appears to be in good health, from the looks of it.

It is not a hylid, but an Old World treefrog of the family Hyperoliidae, which was once considered the same family as the Rhacophoridae. The Old World treefrogs are closely related to the Ranids, whereas the hylids (a mostly New World family) are more closely related to the toads or Bufonids.

They used to be quite common imports from Africa. Not sure if they are still being imported on a regular basis anymore or if they are being captive bred.

they definetily are not being captive bred, and while imports are still legal, their numbers have dropped a lot in the past decade. whether that is due to stricter laws or an effect of overcollection, i'm not sure.
