I've wanted to get a GTP for quite some time now. I've got a few corn snakes, and have had all sorts of reptiles before. I'm just looking for advise about these beautiful snakes. Should I start with a baby or an adult. Is there a certain type that a beginner should start off with. I live in California so could anybody reccomend a breeder in the state. Thanks for the help.

Cathy Maynard is in Riverside and has some very nice animals. I don't know if she has any available right now though. Doesn't matter though as most breeders will ship to your door from anywhere in the US. I would recommend getting Greg Maxwell's book The More Complete Chondro. Make sure you buy US captive born and bred. Imports will have more problems than you'll want to deal with for a first chondro. There are plenty cbb available for not that much more money than an import. If you can, an older animal will be less trouble than a baby. Established yearlings will certainly be less risk than a neonate and you'll possibly have a sexed animal already. Do plenty of research and you'll do fine.
