Need help ID'ing Lizards of Namibia

Deke Sep 26, 2008 06:02 PM

Hey guys, i'm hoping some of you may be able to help me. I got back from Namibia recently and took quite a few shots of reptiles to use in a project. However even with books bought over there, i'm having a lot of trouble ID'ing a number of individual species. Most look to be skink species of sorts, there's a few geckos in there too and possibly some lacertidae. Trying to find pictures online is a nightmare, as one species to one person is another to the next! I'll put them as links to my photobucket so as not to take up too much room. I'll post the best ones I have as you can imagine they're pretty skitish!

I think this is Boulton's Namib Day Gecko (Rhoptropus boultoni boultoni): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1308.jpg

I think this one is a Bradfield's Namib Day Gecko (Rhoptropus bradfieldi diporus) but the only pic I can find (in Bill Branch's book) is only the front half of the gecko: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1262.jpg

Unknown Gecko, possibly juvenille Bradfield's: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1240.jpg

I think this is a Wedge-Snouted Skink (Trachylepis acutilabris): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1220.jpg

This is some kind of juvenille agama (may be hard to ID at young age): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1265.jpg

I thought this may be a juvenille Husab's Sand Lizard (Pedioplanis husabensis) but i'm not too sure: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1223.jpg

Unknown Skink: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1100.jpg

Unknown Skink: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1225.jpg

Unknown Skink(?): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1248.jpg

Unknown Skink: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1391.jpg

Unknown Skink or Lacertidae: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1301.jpg

Unknown: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/bluedini/?action=view¤t=IMG_1406.jpg

If any of you can help with this, would be greatly appreciated!
