"sub tail" argentine b&w tegus??????????

opklm Sep 27, 2008 01:42 PM

My friends are at a reptile/herp show in tampa that I couldn't make it to due to lack of transportation. I asked them to find me a baby Argentine b w tegu. They said theres a lady there with normal tegus and then "sub tail" tegus at less than half the price. Is the only difference that their tails arn't going to be as long and pretty? I've never heard of this.

I've never heard them with that name, but my guess is that they have nipped or broken tails. Depending on how bad the tail is damaged, it will be shorter, could be crooked, or have a black section of regrowth. Again, it depends on how the tail looks on the hatchling. I would also want to know why they were nipped.

I think your friend means STUB tail. That would be a broken tail and they don't grow back as pretty or as long as the original.
