Housing with a tegu

snakeeyes1618 Oct 05, 2008 05:41 AM

I am wondering if you had a big enough outside enclosure could you house a red foot with a b&w tegu....assuming both are adults. I live in Fl and when i get the time i am going to build an outside enclosure for my tegu. I really want to get a red foot. i have been doing my research and I just had this off the wall question. They are both for similar regions so I am just thorwing this out there. Be gentle

I only ask because they seem to come from the same enviroments and i am sure they run into each other.....I have a tegu and she is pretty mellow and bowl fed so her respnse isnt as out of control as others i have seen....I dont have a red foot .....YET....but once I do I plan on building a nice outdoor enclosure....since i live in FL the weather is pretty good..so i htought if i had a big enough area they mightnot even care about each other....just a thought...thnaks for your response....sorry about my ramble

i also live in flrodia. anyway, im sure it might work for a little while but still a tegu's might see the movement out of the corner of his eye and then accidently chomp down on the tortoises head, why risk a very expenisive tortoise?. although that would make a really cool display cage with a tegu and redfoots. redfoots are a lot of fun and have a lot of personality, and they really enjoy the weather in flrodia.

well the place i do volunteer work at just sets up a little wooden shelter and pack it with hay, which works OK but sometimes they get very very cold. i would recomend keeping them inside when we get our little cold fronts, better safe then sorry right?
