need help with young bull frog

froglovR Oct 08, 2008 01:27 PM

Hes a young bullfrog just finished morphing about 3 weeks about. The problem is that I dont know if his eating enough or at all. He stayes in the water 90% of the time, so I put 4-5 meal worms on his rock in the water every night. Then in the morning they are all dead floating in the water. And he doesnt like to eat the dead ones. What should I do?

Feed him something else, mealworms are horrible swimmers and once they get in the water they just sit there and drown. Feed it crickets and you should be fine.

Thanks for the help, but he rarely come out of the water, would crickets last long enough in the water for him to eat them, that and they wouldnt stay in the water anyways. Maybe if I put a bunch in his tank to roam around he would eventually find them. what do you think?

They would definetily last longer than mealworms or superworms. Do you have a land area? if so then the crickets (the majority at least) should be able to stay alive for a day or so.

Mine have a small land area that I dump the insect onto, then also throw a handful of nightcrawlers in the water as well. They love them.
