That's really cool. I've seen leucistic browns posted on two occasions but never ones that were amelanistic.

Nobody else is known to be working with them.
I've been trying to get my hands on one for the longest time as brown snakes are almost TOO easy to work with.
Good luck with it.

hahaha wayne

technically... yes... it IS a color phase... just a very, very genetically rare one :D

much like the solid black red belly that I found and was going to send to you earlier this year :D

anuraanman Oct 13, 2008 07:44 PM

lol. I think I know what this is in reference to...

MikeFedzen Oct 13, 2008 10:42 PM

What are you, 12?
Anybody who has worked with "small snakes" for as long as I have, or has been in the field enough can tell you that what you had was a COLOR PHASE, VERY different from an albino.

No hard feelings.
Took me a minute to realize what you were referring to, I hope it doesn't keep you awake at night.

lol... I am not saying it's not a color phase, love... I'm just saying that it's one that's not commonly come across at all. You can't argue with that... it's a simple fact... no harm intended. I have been actively keeping, herping for, and studying small snakes for 8 years, I find 100 plus red bellies each year, and that was the first time I'd seen one! Definitely a very attractive specimen and IMHO, would be very worth a selective breeding project. The all black is just far too attractive!

anuraanman Oct 15, 2008 08:04 AM

I'm pretty sure Mike wasn't directing that at you.

MikeFedzen Oct 15, 2008 08:20 PM

That wasn't direct towards you at all. :]

and my response was not an attack in the least i just want you to know that... i didnt want to come off the wrong way! I will be herping that area again next year in hopes of finding another black.

asnakelovinbabe Oct 12, 2008 10:43 PM

Sweet deal!!! makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside for very possibly having the only one :D
