Paradox Rosy Boas

NDokai Oct 10, 2008 07:19 PM

Does anyone have a picture they can post or a link to a picture of a Paradox Rosy. Also, genetics if any behind them.

Thanks For Your Time,
Nick & Austin

I didn't realize Paradox rosys had been discovered.

"Rosy, Rubber, and Sand Boas" by R. D. Bartlett mentions it, saying that they were produced by Randy Limburg.

"In his 2004 breedings, Limburg produced a boa phase that is being termed a paradox rosy boa. Apparently this boa is mostly of albino appearance but has some patches of normal pigmentation."

Yeah, we saw that too while we were doing a search, but no pics anywhere.

We will get a pic of our female posted, but she is very low expression of a paradox. We were hoping someone could post a good pic of one.

I wrote a response which got pulled for some reason.

Basically, I haven't found anyone who has seen a paradox albino rosy, nor really believe they exist.

Someone even checked with Randy Limburg and he confirmed that the ones they call paradox are not albino, rather a calico normal. The books description of his animals was a mistake.

If you actually do have a paradox albino rosy, please post pics.

She is not a Paradox Albino.
She's a Poss. Het Albino Whitewater with black scales in her rust striping. It looks like smudging of permanent marker on her. And they are not scares.

She had her first litter, bred to an Albino male, with no albinos out of 6 babies. And none of the babies had any of the smudging like her.
It probably is not genetic, but just wanted to see if there were any out there.

She is in a deep shed right now. Once she sheds I will get a couple pictures posted.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought you meant "paradox albinism", like albino with spots of color...

What you described actually sounds like what desert queen said too, but I think she said they were from the Limburg albino line.

If so, that would explain why you didn't get any albinos!!!!
They'd be 100% het WW albino, and 50% poss het limburg albino.
I will double check with her and tell you what she says.

Oh, and here's a pic of hers.

Really cool looking, I think. Does yours look like that?

Desert Queen's are from the limburg line but she said that only she and Randy Limburg have those, so yours must be from a different source.

Can't wait for her to shed so we can see some pics.
Thanks,
Josh

I guess I should explain why I jumped to the idea that they might be different albino phases.

If you breed an albino to a het (of the same albino gene) and 6 babies are produced, the probability of none being albino is 1/64, or about 1.56%. (unless my math is wrong, which is a distinct possibility)

So either its not het for the same albinism, or you're just really unlucky.
If you're sure its 100% het for WW albino, then you might want to stay away from Vegas, lol.
