leaving on vacation

arapates Oct 17, 2008 07:50 PM

I am going to be leaving on vacation for a week and was wondering what is the best way to monitor the temp and day / night switch for my gecko. I was thinking of leaving the night bulb in on his tank to keep one side warm and the other side cool. Is this a bad idea? I dont think I can find anyone to watch him, so what should I do?

Do you have a UTH (under tank heater)? If so it should be all you need for heat. Overhead lighting isn't necessary for these guys. 90 on the warm side and 75 on the cool side should work. As for leaving for a week, just feed him well before you go. A Week without food won't hurt them.

I have a leo and an AFT that are left alone for a week every year while I go to my nam vet reunion and have had no problems.
