Buffysmom Oct 19, 2008 12:55 PM

I have 2 new young RETFs. One is consistently turning & staying a dark purple color all over its body. Is this OK?

as long as it is still eating and acting normally. treefrogs change color for many reasons: temperature, camoflauge, humidity (could be too humid or too dry), diet (could be hungry or eaten too much), seasonal, time of day...
there are a million reasons why treefrogs change color, many of which are not evident to the keeper. my whites are beautiful during the day but turn a bruisy color at night, who knows why.

ah, i'm sorry.
i am guessing it was internal bleeding then, it causes the frog to appear bruised and it will stop eating and look bloated. there is no way to prevent it or cure it once it happens, it's just a fluke accident that there's not much you can do about. sorry.
