The female is pretty big... Around/over 2 feet...
The male is still a little guy, probably 16" at the most, I'm hopin he'll breed next year though.
She eats scented pinkies, he eats f/t snakes.

F/t shorthead garter snake.
It chased it around the enclosure.
That's the feeding response I like to see.
ha.
Hopefully I can get it on pinkies soon.

Hmm... sort of cool... but at the same time... I hate to see a garter snake being eaten. they are my favorite snakes XD and i just cringe when I see people posting wanted ads on the classified requesting massive amounts of garter snakes! May I ask, where does one acquire F/t snakes?
Catch them. Freeze them.
Thaw them for meals...

Mike, Why not use say Eastern Garters?? (Sirtalis Sirtalis)The most abundant species of garter.
More than one person has said to me that Shortheads are a lot more scarce.....
I for one have a strong respect for the food chain, After all I think cows are nice, properly seasoned with potatoes on the side

More herps than I could ever list out back on the land.
If you're ever in my area during the warmer months give me a call and I'll show you what's abundant around here. You'll see every piece of cover lifted up will have shorthead garter snakes, and possibly one or two eastern garters.
The last couple times I went out looking for snakes I saw no eastern garters. Shortheads are an entirely different story.

I always dig herping in other areas.
Hmm, since I'm into Thamnophis everythingus, maybe I could get me a pair of those shortheads, never see those in other folks signature lines
