CYPRESS MULCH vs COCONUT COIR

geedeebaby Oct 25, 2008 09:58 PM

The title of this thread says it all. Which one would be the better choice for a sub-adult redfoot?

Hi, I like cypress. I have used the coco fiber with other animals and it is very mess and tracks around. Just my 2 cents...

I used cypress mulch at one time but it developed little bugs. I never understood why or where the bugs came from. I cleaned it often. How about ZooMed's Repti-Bark? Any good for redfoots?

I've used cypress for a decade or more for hatchlings through adults and have never had a problem. Holds moisture well and needs minimal clean up. The little bugs find their way into anything, but seem to do no harm, in fact they help break down the tort waste and veggie waste into mulch.
