dmlove Sep 07, 2003 05:01 PM

my juvi leopard gecko got out of his cage....im freaking out here...he got out sometime last night, and ive been looking ALL day, i scoured EVERYWHERE in the basement!!! his cage was on the ground, so it wouldnt be much of a fall (its a 20L) the top was left open, but he never goes onto the stick thats up there, but i geuss he jumped onto it and jumped out. I really need help here! we have a split basement, a small part carpeted and a larger part that is concrete floor and cobwebs and not finished and junk everywhere...the two are seperated, but there are a few little holes that lead to it, and im afraid he went there andill never find him again. What can i do? there are crickets running around in the basement, so i dont think he wil starve (he has a huge fata tail) but i gotta find him!! he wont have any heat or water or anything!!!!!! im afraid!!! is there anything i can do!??!!?!?

very distressed, david

Well I don't lose pets that often but I'll give you some advice. I urge others to help me out as this isn't professional information but rather experience. Your house obviously has a lot of hiding place. First advice is that you need to chill. Thats the problem, when a person lose something like a pet, they trip. Tripping doesn't do much but help you lose your brain. Calm down, get a flash light. I would say later lose some crickets down there for food if he is still down there, place a little water. I put a lot of sprinkle of flower around so if he does come you will see his tracks and probably hunt him down. Just look around I suppose, whatever he likes, put it somewhere, he'll probably come searching for it. Heat/water/food/a good female. I just lost my nile monitor, I'm like f*ck that lizard, he wanna die be my guess, its 50F outside, lets see how long he can survive.

if he eats meal/wax/superworms put a bowl out. put a heat pad out to. If you want to search the entire basment look for him in places that are warm, behind hot water heaters, refridgerators, ect. Be on the look out at night since that is when he will be most active
