Sulcata subtrate with heat lamp

Patty208 Oct 29, 2008 07:09 AM

Just bringing in my sulcatta hatchlings inside for the winter. Their usual substrate of hay is a fire hazard with a heat lamp. I've heard of using soil for substrate and peat moss in the hide box for humidlity, which I'm planning to do today. I have them in a large Rubbermaid under the bed box, clip on heat lamp and UVA/UVB bulb. Any other non-flammable substrate suggestions would be welcome.

I have used rabbit pellets in the past. Much cheaper if you buy in large bags from feed store.
