Care for Slimy Salamanders

CorderoCrotaphyt Nov 03, 2008 02:03 PM

What's the best substrate, food, lighting, for slimy salamanders? Pics of vivariums is helpful. I'm looking for an article in Reptiles Magazine June 2002 about slimy salamanders. Anyone have it?

if i were doing it, i'd just use some top soil w/ leaves scattered about and a few pieces of bark for hiding. temps, ideally mid -60s is what i'd go with. food: small crix, worms. lighting not necessary. salamanders thrive pretty well in captivity and can live for years. keep the substrate moist, not soaked. if possible, i keep all my sallies in the basement or coolest part of the house. thats my 2 cents
