porecelain socket

txn817 Nov 09, 2008 09:12 PM

I was wondering if you needed to have a porecelain socket light dome or if you could just use one with a plastic end, like just a regular one you can buy at home depot or lowes.

thanks

Hi, after having a zillion lights over the years for all my lizards, I would have to say the porecelain is the best, can handle much more heat than the plastics. Also think they are safer, as they can handle bulbs with higher watts.

I personally would go with the porecelain.

I've used both. Really depends on the watt of the bulb what kind of fixture you use.
