New Male Mangrove

vegasbilly Nov 14, 2008 10:44 AM

Well, after the demise of my younger male (see earlier post) I got this beauty in to carry the load! He's in a quarantine cage (can't clean it while he's out LOL) and has been treated twice w/one more treatment to go. He eats med/ rats like candy. He is different thatn my others in that his yellow does not cross over the spine and he has fewer yellow bands. I know Chris L. will know what ssp. this is.

Nice looking Mangrove, Bill.
He's most definitely Boiga dendrophila melanota, and a nice one at that.

Thanks Roy, I always appreciate it when you chime in. BTW, I did get that monstrous female from Sid, unbelieveably massive snake! 8' and over 8#! Picture a Boa of similar length and she's the same girth! I have her on a bit of a diet LOL, only one small rat/week. Can't seem to get her on the treadmill though!

What a beauty! Where did you find her? Is that the Herpcages 20"x20"? Congratulations on a wonderful find!

Phaddy Nov 18, 2008 09:29 AM

Of course if I could actually read I would have asked about HIM, not HER. Sheesh.

Those are the Barrs (Herpcages.com) IMHO, nothing holds humidity better and here in Vegas that is a constant battle!

Hey Bill,

Glad to hear that the new mangrove is doing well. Still sucks about the mangrove that he replaced. Anyway, I'll follow up that email about emeralds tonight or tomorrow.
