New to Tegu's - HELP!

herb s Nov 15, 2008 09:51 AM

We just purchased an argentine b&w on 10/31 - born this year. We playing with him for a little while and put him in his cage. We haven't seen him since. I know he is in hybernation for several months but I'm just concerned that he is ok. I know you're not supposed to mess with him while in hybernation so what should I do? Leave him and hope he's not dead or look for him?

I just let mine sleep and trust the process. If you just can't help yourself, slowly peek in there and see if it's OK. Of course, all you'll likely see is a curled up lizard. Well, I take that back, my 5yo Arg sleeps in a straight line.

Is it under mulch? You can pull back some pieces slowly, just enough to see.

thanks, I will let him be. I have him in a 130gallon under mulch and it would be hard to find him without really disturbing the cage.
