Gecko FREAKING OUT.

AndrewFromSoCal Nov 17, 2008 04:14 AM

I was cleaning my room a bit today and had music on, which was rare. All of a sudden, my male started running around his enclosure all crazy like. Has anyone ever witnessed this before? I don't really know how to explain it other than he was really freaking out.

Has anyone experienced anything like that before?

Was it hotter than normal in the room at the time? The only time I've seen anything like that was when mine's temps got too high briefly - we don't have central air, and hadn't moved the geckos to the room with the A/C yet that year, and it got too hot one day. I wasn't actually there for it, but my GF said the gecko was basically throwing herself around the enclosure. She put a bag of ice over the top of the enclosure in order to cool things down until I could get home to move them to the other room. (She couldn't really lift the cages to move them very easily.)

This happened to mine when I first moved into my new place 3 weeks ago..We had problems getting the temperatures right in here but the heat was pretty extreme at first..Well actually, the place started out like a ice box, then a heat box,now it's more normal..My gecko is fine now but it did freak me out when I saw him do that..

you may have just startled him out of sleep too. It is my belief that reptiles can dream.....just like any other animal with a brain. Getting startled out of a deep sleep may have just set off a flight response. It has happened to mine before.

I have to lift this tread.
One of mine has done this a couple of times, and I dont think I have it too hot. I have moved him to a new enclosure that had bad ventilation to begin with.
now I have a mesh top so the ventilation should be ok.

He has still freaked out a couple of times, so I´m a bit puzzled...

I would appreciate if anyone knows how to handle this.
