Ally Snapper Disease

BigAngryBill Dec 01, 2008 08:14 PM

I have had this ally snapper for a few months now, and he has recently developed several white patches. On the photos, hopefully you can see one at the base of the tail, and another on the right side of the head. He also has these pink lines the run along the forelimbs, but I'm having a hard time remembering whether they have always been there. The other thing I have noticed is the scutes scraping off on the plastron. I have a Florida snapper, and a few musks, but I have never noticed this before. Are these all symptoms of one disease? I can try to get better pictures. Thanks in advance for the help.

hey bill, it looks to me that your snapper is just shedding on the plastron pic. as for the lines on its lets that could just be some nice coloring. i have three of them and depending on how much sunlight and or uvb lighting they get and also depending on how warm i keep them they go from a dull dark brown to extreamely light brown with some amazing colors in them. as for the tail however this is just a guess but, i would also attribute that to growth and shedding. keeping in mind these are just observations and opinions. hope that i helped.

I think that your snapper is also just shedding and looks great to me. Mine also has some pink in him. As long as the spots you see on him are not white and slimy/fuzzy they should be fine. Just in case i would get him a turtle tank sulfa additive. They are made by reptomin and are in the shape of little turtles. Just put them in the water and it will maintain good skin health by preventing bacteria and fungus growth.
