My Russians have been mating !!!!

Gregory Dec 07, 2008 11:08 AM

After a quarantine period,a round of panacur and she gave 3 negative floats (I'm a lead vet tech/surgical asst. with a year left before vet school), I put her in with my male. After a romantic meal of some chopped greens and cactus pads, he pinned her in the corner and went for broke! He's been at it for 3 days and shows no sign of stopping. Hopefully I'll have some tortoise eggs in the incubator with the ones my beardie laid for me.

Well good for you. I am sort of surprised, so late in the year, is this indoors or outdoors? I would assume you witnessed intromission and not just "thrill humping" which many tortoises do a lot of. I wish you and your pair good luck and good fertility, they really are fun to take full circle (breed and raise the young to breed). Best wishes, Vic H.
