i have to get 2 snakes

chenderson421 Dec 18, 2008 10:18 PM

ok, i have an adule female ball that i want to breed.

i could either get

male ball and male blood to breed to her
or
male ball and female blood to breed together and let the male breed to the female ball as well...

what would you do, and more importantly, what combo with the ball x blood would be more likely to work
male ball x female blood or
female ball x male blood?

Everything that i haver heard about the super ball thing says that it is extremely hard to do. Have you ever kept a blood before? They are a lot of work. We have a couple. They are what we call "display" animals and breeders.

If you insist though, go for a male ball to a female blood. A male blood to female ball could hard the ball with too big of eggs.

Just so you know, female Bloods can grow up to be 30 pounds. They generally don't have the dispositions of balls either.

thanks for your input.. that is the answer i have gotten from fellow herper friends. i have done a lot of research on bloods - and from what i have read, yes, i understand their disposition and care is not the same as that of the ball. i have kept lots of snakes and do know that they all require different care.. After more research, however, i have decided against the superball, this season most likely wont produce any python hybrids... only colubrid hybrids and normal balls.

thanks again for you input.
