Cage Size/Temp questions

spyiii Jan 03, 2009 10:45 PM

Hey for ATB's can someone list ideal cage sizes from baby to adult?

Also for heating, I dont keep my snake room heated, but I live in Las Vegas and its dry the room stays around 74-76 degrees summmer and 77-79 winter. What would be best for heating-ceramic, bulb, panel? (Planning a move soon and the snake room will be heated so hopefully this wont be a problem too much longer)

I really like the snakes even if they are nippy I think they are way too beautiful to pass up.

Thanks,
Shahe Yeretzian

I should have looked around a little bit more, ive never kept aboreal pythons/boas thats why I was asking. Does the Tree Boa community welcome newcomers haha.

I got 24" cubed for an adult, and for a Juv 20" cubed...sound about right? I chose to go with panels for heat.

I keep my adults in 28x24x24 vision cages. I usually keep a pair in each one at room temp, which is 78-84 depending on the time of the year. Try not to get it too hot with heaters as it seems to dry them out. I use newspaper and cypress mulch as my substrate and pour water on it as needed. I provide a large water bowl and mounted crepe myrtle branches for my animals. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dennis, I live where it is dry (Las Vegas) I plan to keep the pannels on thermostats. I cant heat the whole room because its part of the house unit, but after the move my snake room will have the temps controlled.

Im not worried about humidity, Ive kept a panther chameleon in the room before in a screen cage, and used misting and a humidifier when it was a little to dry.

He never became dehydrated. I also plan on pothos in their cages I know it takes more work for cleaning but I dont care, isnt that half the fun of keeping reptiles haha.
