ID? Northern Alligator Lizard?

Rosebuds Jan 04, 2009 07:51 PM

I got this baby as a brand new hatchling a few months ago, and was told that it was a Texas alligator lizard. I know now that it isn't. What type alligator lizard is it? Its growing and eating like crazy. In fact, its a pig! LOL!

Kind of a ham, huh?

Its not a northern, it may be a southern, northerns have dark eyes and southern have light brown eyes like the one in the pic. Good looking little gator.

maby a southern, but the pattern dosent mach up and the tail is much linger than most southerns, its hard to tell until it reaches macherity and has full patterns

I thought that southerns have almost white eyes. Are there southerns that have light brown eyes? They certainly aren't dark brown eyes. Here are a few new pics. I really appreciate the input.

Here's two pics of Southern Gators. The first on has quite the long tail and the second is lighter with the light colored eyes.

I'm not to familiar with the Alligator lizards south of oregon but have dealt with hundreds from Oregon and Washington.
