So I was sold a female B&W Tegu over a yer ago.....I live here in FL and as often as I can i let her walk around the yard....where she usually deficates....I was wathing her and when she deficated I saw what looked to be like hemipeins (sp?) come out while she was going....is this something that males do or is it something that females do as well....was it sexualy organs or just the rectum?.....I know I knwo pictures tell 1000 words....I will work on it.

Thanks for your time

Pictures tell a thousand words, ha ha!

A male will also have little "buttons" on each side of the vent, just raised little bumps towards the rear legs. How old is your tegu? If it's everting its hemipenes, it will look quite a bit different than just having a BM.

HE/SHE is approx 14-16 months old.....how big are the buttons?

I have noticed that with every BM something came out that was from the inside...I just thought it was something that they would naturally do...untill i saw two

I will also say male.. He has jowels where females wont have them and also the "bottons" by his vent there like little worts

WC3 Jan 08, 2009 07:04 PM

He has the jowls, but also the shape of his head. Some females can develop jowls, but they are older females and a lot heavier then him.

snakeeyes1618 Jan 08, 2009 07:31 PM

I was thinking the jowls were a bit bigger thus why I was asking in the first place.....There are no buttons near the vent though....but he is only just over a year old so maybe they will come

So the real question is! Did he have a unisex name to begin with, or do you have to go back to the name drawing board! This is always the hardest part for me, Darn names are so difficult!!!!
