Gecko's without crickets? is it possible

sebring Jan 11, 2009 09:23 PM

Hey, I wanted to see if anyone know of geckos that you can keep that do not require live insects....I'm pretty sure that you can do it with cresteds and that repashy diet, but wanted to see what else can thrive off of packaged food.

I would really be interested to see if it would work with the likes of giant day and leopard geckos.

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, most of the genus rhacodactylus (cresteds, chahouas, gargoyles, etc) can be maintained on just the repashy diet. That said, they all LOVE crickets as a treat occasionally.

All of the Rhac species can be kept on a diet of the CGD. It has also had success with being fed to most day gecko species. If you have more questions about that I would direct you to sign up with the Repashy Reptiles forum and ask there, as the woman who has experience with that kind of thing is there.

There are actually quite a few geckos that can live completely off the CGD MRP. Some of them SHOULD have the occasinal cricket in their diet, but for the most part, there are alot of geckos that will eat and can live off of the stuff.

i guess i really want to know if i can use the meal replacement for giant day gecko's. does anyone have specific experience?

I don't have experience in doing do, but I'm like 90% sure that you can. They actually make a Day Gecko Diet, which I believe is pretty close to the same thing as the CGD.
