coffee grounds as substrate???

AnimalSquabbles Jan 16, 2009 05:03 AM

Coffee grounds are supposed to be good for your garden and stuff, im finally going to be gettin a pixie frog soon and was wondering if using a coffee grounds/ potting soil mix as substrate in its terrarium could harm it. It would probably digest easy and not causd impaction if accidently swallowed. Anyone ever heard of or used ground up coffee beans as substrate?

NO. It sounds like you need to do some more research on how frogs work, unless this thread is a joke.

Hawaii was using caffeine solution sprayed on coqui's to eradicate them. Of course it was busy work, but it did kill the frogs.

Coffee grounds are NOT digestable. In fact they are the indigestible part of the bean left over after coffee is extracted. They are also very high sourceof nitrogen, something your frog would like to avoid.
