The religion of Chuckwallas

MaureenCarpenter Jan 18, 2009 03:36 PM

Hyuck hyuck! Ever notice how faithfully devoted Chuckwallas are to their basking spot? Even if nobody turned the lights on, they crawl out of their hides and splay their little bodies out in full "bask mode" even if it is stone cold and dark. They believe in the coming of the great heat source in the sky...even without evidence that it is indeed going to arrive. Very religious behavior, if you ask me! LOL

Then again, maybe its Emersonian transcendentalism.

Mine don't climb on the basking spot first thing. They drag themselves to where I usually put the food bowl and pout til it lands. Same difference, I guess. LOL!

Very true, mine do the same thing, they are at the spot before I wake up each day.

Ha, Maureen! I read your topic title and got it all wrong - I thought you were going to discourse on how the HUMANS who contribute to this Forum are sufficiently obsessive about CHUCKS that we kinda idolize our lizards! I believe this could have been the substance of the message to follow your heading about the religion of chuckwallas!
