Trouble getting babies to feed

Aaron1 Jan 20, 2009 02:38 PM

Hello to all. One of my c. carinata who I've had for about a month had babies! She had four but only two are living. They were born on January 16th and they've already shed. How do I get them to eat? I've tried an anole leg and an anole head which they were not interested in. I have heard of using feeder guppies which I will try next then eventually try to switch to scented pinks. I also have three adult c. carinata who have no interest in pinks or frozen thawed anoles. I have seen one of the adults eat live anoles, house geckos, and green tree frogs which I used to feed by leaving them in his enclosure. I want to switch to pinks but I have had no luck. Any tips on feeding the babies and the adults would be helpful. Also, does anybody know where to get baby feeder anoles, house geckos, or green tree frogs?

Here's a picture of the babies.

First off-NOT an expert, just sharing what I've heard/read. They shed shortly after birth, but people don't try feeding for a few weeks after as they're surviving on the yolk from birth. I'm pretty sure Conways page (candoia page??) that is linked at the top right of this forum covers this a little bit. Might want to try some of the reptile dealers in Florida to see if they can hook you up with some baby anoles/frogs. Good luck, sorry I couldn't give you any real answers.

thats true most babies wont eat for about 2 or 3 weeks because the are living off of the yolks from birth as for the adults try senting the food with tuna fish i have had luck with it in the past and so have several people that i know and if you need i have attatched a like to jerry conway's page hope this helps
