Temp Guages

gregory_t Jan 21, 2009 09:18 AM

Does anyone have any ideas in terms of how to constantly monitor cage temps? Ideally, I would like to always know the ambient temp, the warm side basking temp, and the cool side temp without having to open the cage to perform in ir reading. I suppose I could use anyone of a number of instruments that have a long probe, but it doesn't seem so practical nor accurate to have a bunch of these probes hanging down into these various spots.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. Perhaps some kind of wireless probe that I can place exactly where I want to measure the temp.

I personally use 3 Fluker's Digital Thermometers stuck to the walls of my enclosures, one on the hot end about 5" to right of the basking area, one on the cool end and one in the middle .. they also register humidity.

Miss Anne,

Thanks for the info. Do you stick these to the inside or outside? If inside, then you're not as able to check min/max easily, right? Do the Flukers have a wire probe? I couldn't tell from their website.

They Stick to the inside, no probes. They have a min/max button, but I don't use it. I also use an infared temp gun everyday to monitor my temps.

They look like this ...
