Chondro Breeding Season

petie11o5 Jan 21, 2009 04:45 PM

Hey everyone my name is Pete and I am new to this forum but I have been a member on kingsnake for a while. I have been looking at getting a Chondro for quite some time now,and I have done all the research required to know how to keep a GTP healthy. They seem so exotic and beautiful it is hard to resist buying one at the Reptile Shows haha. But anyways, I was wondering when most people start putting their Chondros togather for breeding and when the neonates are most available? Like what is the best time of year to look for a neonate Chondro?

Thanks in Advance,
Pete

Welcome aboard Pete. The season is well underway, but there are plenty of U.S. CBB chondros availble right now. Most people start pairing in the early fall and continue until spring, although chondros will breed any time of the year. You can find animals of all ages right now.

Yeah I noticed there is a fairly good amount out there that are available; but I was just unsure if there was an extra good time of year to look.

Thanks for the quick response though. I will post some pics when I get one, which may not be for a while. I'm going to do some more research and keep my head in the market for now.

Thanks again,
Pete

I highly recommend Greg Maxwell's book, The More Complete Chondro. Whether you are getting one for a pet or planning on breeding them, it is the probably the most concrete source for information on GTPs. Can't wait to see some pics!
