Just received the new spotted baby in the mail this morning. She is the size of a quarter and beautiful. She is hiding out behind the basking rocks, while the other two turtles go about their business. I'm really impressed with her color and spots for such a young age. We named her Missy.

Sweeeeeeet Curtis..some serious spots.1 of mine had a elongated spot like her (near her head) when she hatched.I figured *cool* I'll be able to tell them apart.Don't know how but that spot is gone now.If they wheren't so different in size They'ld be identical.

You forget how little they start out until you get a new baby. She's pretty skiddish, of course, but very alert.

Good looking little Spotted, good luck with the new addition!

I am currently in the US Navy, so unfortunetly I have sold off my collection of herps. But over the years have kept many different species of turtles, geckos, lizards, amphibs, and even fish. Looking forward to getting back in the hobby once im out though!

That's awesome. Nice looking turtle. Makes it that much harder to be patient with my immature pair! I can't wait to see what/if they produce. I just caught him attempting to mount her for the first time the other day. I've gone ahead and separated them again. However, she surprisingly seems to be the more assertive of the two. She's a bit younger & smaller too... go figure.

If you don't mind telling... who/where did you get the little gal from?

I got her from a breeder in San Antonio. Her website is captivebredpythons.com. She's very easy to work with and has quite a bit of information on her breeding.

Her breeding of turtles you mean, right?

Nice looking animal. Good luck with her. I hope its the female you've planned for. I got my first from a woman who purchased it as a hatchling and was told that it was female. I got it from her at about a year-old and was already very suspicious that it was actually male. After a bit more development all question was gone. It is definitely male.

Not sure what you meant in your first sentence. She does breed snakes, as well, if that's what you were referring to. I was saying she breeds spotted turtles and has quite a bit of information on her website on her experience, practices, her breeders, etc.

Nothing is guaranteed, but this breeder said she incubated at temps to get this clutch my spotted was in to be all females. So, that's about as good as you can do, in my opinion. When I bought my first spotted from the big North American reptile show, the breeder was positive it was a male. Well, I'm pretty sure he is actually a she. No worries though. I want to have three females and one male in my group, so that works.
