would a green tree python that i have had for about three months now die from eating a rat pup that was too big? I fed it a rat pup just fine and this one was the same size as the time or two before it and it ate it with no problem and pooped it out. then this time when i ate it (frozen/thawed) it had a very large bulge in it and i thought it would spit it back out if it was too big but it just was lazily laying around the rubber maid on the floor. it looked to start a fairly bad shed and then after misting a few times i switched it to a ten gallon and in the process the snake had what appeared to be diarrhea and then the next day it was dead. whats that about?

What is the history of the animal? Who produced it? How old was it? What were the cage conditions? Chondros can actually take and keep down fairly large meals for their size.

Danny Hoosack from Dannys captive chondros www.dannyschondros.com is the one that produced it. she is Mary x Bullet pairing born 5/5/08. the cage conditions were a small plastic tuperware that had two small plastic stick looking things for the snake to curl on. drilled holes on each side. and it had a water bowl and a temperature gauge measuring each side as well as humidity.

How was it heated and what were the temps? Just my opinion, but a rat pup seems a bit big for an animal just produced last May; however, I am not suggesting that may have caused its demised. Without a necropsy, you will never know for sure. Sorry for the loss.

It was heated with a red heat lamp well above the cage and the temps stayed between 78 and 85
