Reptile_Fan2002 Jan 29, 2009 07:05 PM

I had someone tell me reason why Rosy Boas are so expensive becuase of they are being rare and not a high demand I just wonder if this is true or not? Let me know thanks.

I don't find rosy prices to be that expensive.
To what are you comparing them to?
Rosies are CITES, Appendix 2 animals, so they are threatened.
You should also take into account that rosies only average about 5 babies per litter per year.

Hello AncientDNA, that looks like a nice looking Rosy Boa tho. I was on a qest of buying one or 2 of them 1 or 2 years ago did found a breeder through email in Chicago area and she wouldn't tell me how much she sold hers for and I ended up getting a normal Kenyan Sand Boa on a trade for 2 corn snakes I had through my friend's petshop. I was comparing the rosys to Sand Boas in price range tho. I didn't know that they had 5 babies anyway. How much do Rosy Boas usally cost anyway? I had a guy at a local reptile show before in Peoria, IL offered a rosy boa to me for 50 dollars just didn't know what kind it was and didn't have that much cash on me. thanks hope to hear back.

Prices on most captive born snakes all depend on their locale and/or the type of morph they are. You have to make a decision as to what you're looking for and then find out if the breeder even has that animal before they can give you a price. Rosy boas in general are rare in the fact that they produce very small litters and not many breeders are working with them.

Hello, well I've found some websites online that do show the picture and price beside the picture of each local Rosy Boa also same way with any other reptiles but some online sites and privite breeders don't usally tell you the price unless you ask them tho. thanks.
