Is anyone working on a detailed book on Canodia? I know Jerry has some writing on his website, but was wandering if he or anyone was planning on a detailed book?

HI, THERES REALLY NOT MUCH LEFT TO WRITE....I KNOW THERE WAS A SCIENTIFIC STUDY ON CANDOIA DONE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO....IT MAINLY JUST RENAMED CERTAIN SPECIES....THE TERM BEVEL-NOSED BOAS HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THEM....BUT THE SNAKES REMAIN THE SAME....JC

Is there any more in depth info about breeding of them you have available? I have a few of the sp. and have bred my isabella's and am pretty sure my australis is gravid, but it would be great to have a book with all the details on breeding and rearing etc. They are such a wonderfull genus i think they desrve there own printed book.

I AGREE...I WROTE MY BOOK (WHICH IS ON MY WEBSITE) BACK IN 2001....I SENT IT TO 4 DIFFERENT PUBLISHERS...ALL 4 TURNED ME DOWN...THEY SAID "WE DONT FEEL THERE IS A NEED FOR THIS AT THIS TIME" ....AMAZING....3 TOED BOX TURTLES HAVE THEIR OWN BOOKS, BUT AN ENTIRE GENUS OF SNAKES IS OVERLOOKED....IT REALLY PISSES ME OFF....BUT I CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, SO I GAVE UP ON IT....JC

I've read your info online, and I would STILL buy the book. You'd probably have to get someone to come take the pics for you though. LOL, don't worry my pics aren't great either.

I'd support that, I'd love to have a really detailed book available. However publishers may be looking at the size of the potential market: there really don't seem to be a lot of Candoia keepers.

Have you considered self-publishing on line with a fee for download? It's now commonly done, and would at least get you some financial compensation for all the time you spend giving free on line advice (for which my thanks!)

It is also possible to put a book on line, and have it printed to order as people purchase it, if they want a hard copy. It's commonly done with people's hobby photo books. I don't have a site to hand, but I'm sure you can search "on line publishing".
