Pontchartrain Turtle

dracojubar Feb 15, 2009 06:01 PM

We found this guy on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain earlier today. Note the knobs on his back and speckled head and belly. He also has long tail and is about the size of a fifty cent piece (just a baby). Does anyone know what he is?

It's a diamondback terrapin.
There's a very good chance it's protected in your area.
