Sadly, Bailey had to be put down this morning. Although he was wild caught and about 7 or 8 I am guessing when I got him, after 9 years as the picture of health and vigor in captivity, he developed severe paralysis in hind legs and tail. This happened from morning to evening--no falls or trauma,...just happened! The vet said sadly, that they get the same things we do and that if human, he'd be having and MRI. I had soaked him in warm water baths, massaged him, and given him two enemas with warm water and a very slight amount of mild soap. No luck. He had no feeling in those legs, might have given him an anti-inflamatory shot, but the prognosis was not good--probably a tumor on the spine. He did not feel impacted. I left him with the vet for a necropsy. At least his death may improve the vet's and my knowledge, and, of course, I will share with you when I hear back. He was a good little friend and I will miss him. Maureen

I am so sorry, Maureen! They are such sweet creatures. I know you will miss him, but he sure lived a long, and I bet super happy life with you. Please let us know what they find.

I'm sorry for your loss. Hopefully the vet will be able to find out what happened.
