Don't throw those cracked eggs out!

amazoa Mar 02, 2009 06:54 AM

Just a couple of pics here to prove if you seal up those cracked eggs they might incubate just fine and give you a healthy hatchling. There are other sealents besides silicone that you might use. So don't just toss those eggs give them a chance it just might pay off....Good Luck Richard

I'm curious how you got "cracked" eggs in the first place Richard?

I've had this.. exploded in the incubator [ probly don't have to tell you about the odor ].. blew the lid right off of it!

Can't tell ya how "old" the egg was either..

Over a laying season as careful as the females are they always seem to step on one or two cracking them while adjusting the dirt before depositing another. I have even heard one drop and make the cracking sound and sure enough when digging them up it was ozzing and cracked. I had one female that did not bury them very deep exposing the tops of the eggs and one of my tortoises ended up cracking one while moving around in the pen. At any rate I always have a few each season and most I salvage. Richard
