beardie and chuck together

klink67 Mar 03, 2009 02:49 PM

I have talked to some breeders who say that it has and could work. I have a 4x2x2 cage with a male beardie in it and I was wondering if i could put a calico chuckwalla with it.

I wouldn't do it... It is a good way to pass on viruses that one may be immune to and carry, that the other one has no immunity from.

You would probably be okay, but why take a chance. Most of the time mixing species is considered a "no-no" unless they are from the same continent.

I agree. It is just not worth the risk. There are a lot of potential problems, and few benefits.

I third the motion, lol , Beardies carry coccidia big time, and chucks are known for pin worms and things, like mentioned your mixing bacteria/ viruses from two different species, which one guy will be immune to but the other react to.... visa versa.

No way around just setting up another huge set up or just stick to one species. Believe me we have all over the years thought of such thigns to save space, some of us have decided against it or have learned from our mistakes, and try and pass it on to the next guy
