Veiled Life Span

vegasbilly Mar 19, 2009 10:29 PM

What is the "expected" life span for a male Veiled. Our oldest male is approaching 6 and seems to be losing some ooomph....still onery but feeding much less aggressively and his patrolling has slowed down quite a bit. He seems more content to just hang out. Just concerned that his days may be numbered?

6 is a good age for a veiled. So much depends on the health of their bloodline and their care during their life that the lifespan can vary a lot. I've had one cham of that age and he did slow down quite a bit. He started to have some mild eye/tongue coordination problems but we never did pin it down specifically. He ate less, was less active but didn't lose a lot of weight. He passed away during a basking session.

I have had male veileds live to be 7 with the odd one living to be 8 years old but I'm sure the average is less than that.

I have had quite a few female veileds live to be 6 and some even 7 .
