Red x Red & White = INSANe

ckoutris Mar 20, 2009 08:35 PM

ave had this pair together on and off since the beginning of the year and I never witnessed any copulating or courting for that matter. In September going in to October I had paired up The Red & White male with a Red Calico Female. Those two were breeding like clockwork when the lights would go out. Nothing happened with the female she never ovulated but then again I didn't cycle them yet. I planned on doing that pairing again in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully they will go at it like they did back in the fall, only with an ovulation this time.

Back to this pairing, they have been breeding strong for two days and are still gong at it as I type. The male is much more aggressive (sexually) with this female than with the calico female. If one of these pairings work out I will be so fricken happy. Anyway enough jibber jabber here are the Patternless Red female the same one that is in my Avatar and pics of the Red and White male.
Also the Calico female pictured last. Enjoy the pics and wish me luck.

Insane is an understatement...unbelievable!!! I hope this pans out for you Charles because I would love to see red calicos available to the atb community...unless you just want to sell all of the offspring to lil old me?

Thanks Matt, I hope the best for both us this season.
On a sad note my female that gave birth at the beginning of the year is not doing so well. I hope she pulls through.

Thanks,
Charles

She's got some type of RI going on. In itself is not that bad of an RI case being fairly mild. I have had tree boas show similar symptoms in the past and just by tweaking temps and humidity while keeping a close eye on them they bounce back without a problem. Being so worn out after giving birth this infection is really just to much for her to handle with her immune system just not being up to the task to fight anything off. Because she so weak I think any meds would most likely due her in quicker. I will let you know what happens after I figure out the best way to deal with this situation. I really hate to see this happen to such a wonderful snake. I could be overreacting a bit but as long as my reaction benefits her than I don't mind stressing out until she has a nice evil grin again. Thanks for asking Matt, and any thoughts you might have are welcomed and I would really appreciate it if you did.

take care,
Charles

If it's not bad I wouldn't sweat it too much but definitely keep an eye on her. If you keep her on the warm side and bump the humidity it will loosen whatever is in there so she will seem worse but should get better. If you have a good herp vet I would make a visit just to be on the safe side.
