OH NO!!! Mauzi's a BOY????

Rosebuds Mar 24, 2009 10:13 AM

She went into brumation a girl and came out a boy!

I witnessed an obvious play for dominance at the food bowl this morning, that I know would have escalated into a full blown fight between my known male DI and what I thought was one of two fems. Well, mauzi, whose name will obviously have to change, is clearly a boy upon close inspection. He is now temporarily in the chuck viv. I guess he was just very young when I got him last year.

I feel your pain. I think I have 3 females and 1 male but I'm not 100%. Some days I think the people I bought them from sexed them correctly and then others I am not so sure. One of my iggys is very young as well and I'm watching them all like a hawk. So far no aggression or breeding behaviors. I'm glad you had a chuck cage that you could house your male in. How many females/males do you have?

Well, I have what I think is one fem and two males, and the male left in the tank with the fem is chasing her some. I think I will remove him and put the ig formerly known as Mauzi back with her. They seemed to hang together better.

What a mess! If you have too many fems, wanna trade? LOL!
