Lighting question.

mdtdnb Mar 25, 2009 12:41 PM

I am in the process of building new cages for my gtps and I am wondering what is the recommended route for mounting waterproof fluorescent lighting in each cage so

1) they are in fact waterproof?

2) the gtps cannot get wrapped up in the fixture.

I am planning on using an automated misting system that will inevitably get the entire cage wet about once per day. Thanks in advance everyone!

I used a plain small aquarium lighting system in mine. The bulb is a 15 watt clear one. They usually are only active at night when the lights are out, so climbing on the light fixture isn't a problem. Just make sure it's secure, because they will use it as a jungle gym.

ok cool. Is there any specific type of fixture that is recommended more than another as far as water is concerned?

I use aquarium lights, but I know people use any type of under the counter lighting in theirs. I avoid directly spraying it, and it hasn't been an issue yet.
