Big head, jowls, no spurs...female ?

ravenspirit Mar 27, 2009 02:24 PM

I recieved a large - 42" - Argentine Black and White Tegu as a male, and while it looks quite "male", she has absolutely no spurs. I have a pair of reds, so I know what the spurs on the males look and feel like. The arg has a broader head and puffier jowls then my female red. This animal is supposed to be 2-3 years old, but has gone through a couple owners, so who knows the actual age.

Anyway, does the lack of spurs on this tegu mean this large animal is just a good sized female, or do the males sometimes completely lack spurs ?

(I have been calling it a female, and named it Morgana - Here is a photo)

I would say it's a good sized female. Stunning Tegu!
