Lost Sulcata Tortoise

asia2003 Sep 12, 2003 05:42 AM

Hi All,

I live in Port Orange/Daytona beach area, and on Monday my lawn guy came, and when he left, he forgot to close my gate all the way and my 6" 2 year old sulcata tortoise sulley got out. It wouldnt have been so bad, but a neighborhood child found him wandering, and he and his father decided that my LAND tortoise was a common florida turtle and took him to a local pond and released him on the bank. So far my husband and I have been to the pond area and searched at all times of the day, everyday. also I have contacted animal control, the humane society, wildlife rescue, and my county's herpetological society, along with making huge posters, which I have put up in the area. If anyone on here lives in my area, I would appreciate a helping hand.

After a week of vacation by a local pond, my tortoise has been found, he is healthy, a little dirty and hungry, but all the same he is feeling well.
