Best prey item for Pine Woods snake?

agalinis Apr 11, 2009 01:11 PM

Hi folks.

I've been out the last couple of weekends doing my annual Kingsnake "flipping" and found about a 6" Pine Woods Snake. I collected him (along with a Scarlet King) in an area that's going to be cleared and developed (and I mean cleared in like a week, which is why I was working it).

Any suggestions on some prey. It's too small for most anoles I see, although I live in Jax and I have so many freakin' brown anoles in my yard that a simple pit might yield some small ones.
Anybody ever used cricket frogs?

Thanks for the input!

Hi,
I have fed them small anoles, cricket frogs and skinks. On one that small you might give earthworms a try. Buddy.

Hey John. Did you keep the pinewoods snake? Did you get it to eat? I haven't kept them, but I would try the small tree frogs etc. as has been suggested.
