Housing multiple cresteds together

CrazyForHerps Apr 14, 2009 02:02 PM

A few Qs-- what are your opinions?

1. Can a trio (2 females, 1 male) of crested be housed together permanently as adults, if in a large enough enclosure?

2. Can two unsexed cresteds be housed together as babies?

3. Will two unsexed crested babies become stressed if in a 40-gallon enclosure?

4. Will one crested baby become stressed if in a 40-gallon enclosure?

>>>>Yes, of course. I house almost all my breeding crested geckos in groups of 1.2 (1 male and 2 females) or 1.3. You will just need to have a large enough enclosure. A 20 gallon high would work great for your 1.2 group.

2. Can two unsexed cresteds be housed together as babies?
>>>>Yes they can up until about 4-5 months of age, then you will need to watch the two as they begin to develop sexually and may begin to squabble.

3. Will two unsexed crested babies become stressed if in a 40-gallon enclosure?
Not at all. Some will say to keep them in a smaller enclosure so you can monitor them better.

4. Will one crested baby become stressed if in a 40-gallon enclosure?
See answer above.
