monkey tailed skink rehoming

scooter182 Apr 24, 2009 09:54 AM

i am going to become the new home for one of these tomorrow and i am so excited i cant sit still. i know they can eat pothos, but the previous owner has never given it to the skink. its somewhere between 16 and 18 years old so i am wondering if pothos is really needed in the diet and should i include it in the diet or just keep feeding it what it has been eating?

What is it currently eating?

While pothos may not be neccesary for their diet, they sure do love it and eat lots of it in the wild. I just always make sure mine have a plant or two in their enclosure so they can graze when they want to.

Foods: collards, finely chopped with sweet potato baby food and supplements (vits and calcium) mixed in; fresh green beans; frozen mixed vegetables with lima beans occasionally; fruit rarely; summer squash or winter squash sometimes

Other supplements: powdered monkey chow, powdered alfalfa

it's survived so far on romanie lettuce and collards with suppliment and occasional tomatos. i'm wanting to make sure that it has the best diet i can, but i dont want to shock its system by changing food on it all of a sudden. i've seen in some texts that mulberry leaves are ok too, is this true? i have a clean source that i use to feed my silkworms. it hard to find accurate info on these guys.

I have heard that mulberry leaves are okay. I don't know anyone that feeds that to them exclusively. Most people I know stick to the greens, collards and kale. There is a yahoo group for Corucia. Fresh green beans are good for them and most love them. Think green and healthy with occasional fruit treats and orange veggies thrown in. Green beans, lima beans, and powdered alfalfa are good for protein. No meat or tofu or eggs. Powdered monkey chow for putting on weight. Just sprinkled over like the calcium and vitamin supplements.
